School and sports supervision of children
At Mama Odari asbl, we firmly believe that education and sports are essential pillars for the harmonious development of children, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Our mission is to offer them opportunities that will allow them to build a better future. In this article, we will highlight our school and sports coaching activities, as well as the significant impacts we have made within our community.

School supervision
Support for Vulnerable Children
As part of our commitment to children from poor families, we have implemented a school support program that aims to provide them with the resources they need to access quality education. We provide school supplies, such as notebooks, pens, shoes, uniforms, and we cover their school fees.
For children living in villages surrounding Kalemie, where school infrastructure has been destroyed by conflict, we have created catch-up classes under tarpaulin. These classes allow children to catch up and continue their education.
Innovative Teaching Methods
We adapt our teaching methods according to the needs of the children. For some, we offer traditional teaching, while for others, we use the inverted classroom method. This innovative approach allows students to better appropriate knowledge through regular and practical follow-ups.
Over the past nine years, we have supported the schooling of 123 children, including 83 in traditional education and 40 in flipped classrooms. These students continue to benefit from our support for their education.
Sports coaching
Harmonious Development through Sport
Alongside our school curriculum, we believe that sports play a crucial role in the physical and social development of children. We organise inter-school, inter-district and inter-community football sports tournaments, thus promoting cohesion between children of different ethnicities and social classes.
We have also formed our own football teams, made up of cadets (girls and boys), who are trained and morally monitored by a specialized coach. This program, called "Sport for Peace", aims to promote values of respect and solidarity.
Impacts of our activities
The results of our efforts are significant:
- Successful Schooling : Since 2016, 19 children (10 girls and 9 boys) supported by our organization have reached the final year of secondary school.
- Continuing Education : 83 children (47 girls and 36 boys) from poor families continued their primary education without any problems.
- Flipped Classroom Method : 40 children (27 girls and 13 boys) benefit from the flipped classroom method, thus improving their knowledge.
- Sports Achievements : 6 children from our cadet team have joined junior football teams. Our team won the bronze medal at the Zawadi Cup in 2016 and participated in the Peace Cup in 2017.
Conclusion
Providing academic and sports support to children is at the heart of our mission at Mama Odari asbl. We are proud of the progress made and the positive impact on the lives of the children we support. By investing in their education and personal development, we are helping to build a better future for them and for our community.
We invite you to follow our activities and support our mission to continue making a difference in the lives of these children. Together, we can build a bright future!
